Eight government officials lost their lives in a car accident that took place Friday in Taean, a coastal town in South Chungcheong Province, police said.
The tragic accident occurred as a van collided with a rock on a beach at round 11:00 p.m.
Police identified the driver as Moon Seon-ho, a public servant of the Taean County office.
They also confirmed that the remaining seven victims are employees of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Police say the deadly accident took place while the government officials were returning to their lodgings after having a dinner in the nearby restaurant.
The ministry officials were in the costal city for a workshop, sources say.
