Three South Korean men charged with a gang sexual assault were released on bail by a Toronto court Friday, while three other suspects, also Koreans, remain at large, according to CBC News Online.
In a news release Thursday, the Toronto Police Service said they had arrested Ha Hyun-jun, 26, and Lee Sang-cheol, 37, of Toronto, and Lee Jong-il, 33, of Orangeville and issued warrants for the remaining three.
Ha and both Lees face a total of 67 charges that also include administering drugs for sex and making child pornography.
The multiple alleged assaults involved four female victims ― three women and an underage girl ― who are said to have met the suspects through a Korean community church in the greater Toronto area.
The events were allegedly carried out by the six, in Toronto, between the fall of 2009 and February.
Country-wide warrants have been issued for Kim Jin-hyun, 33, Cho Yoon-hyun, 26, and Lee Jung-jay, 26, all of Toronto.
According to Korean cable news channel YTN, all of the suspects were Koreans in Canada as overseas students. The police have released their photographs.
The Toronto Sex Crimes Unit launched an investigation into the allegations late last month. The arrests were made between March 11 and 16.
