A 44-year-old woman was arrested by police from Gwangjin Station Sunday on suspicion of biting off a piece of a high school student's tongue.
According to the precinct in eastern Seoul, the woman, identified as a Cho, approached a 16-year-old Kim at 3 a.m. near a karaoke room she owns, and asked him to accompany her home.
When the two arrived at Cho's home, she kissed him and bit off a piece of his tongue. Cho was charged with causing serious physical injury.
Police said that about two-thirds of Kim's tongue was torn off. He was taken to a hospital and underwent an operation to reattach the removed part of his tongue.
But the procedure failed, likely leaving Kim with a permanent disability.
Cho was quoted as telling police, "I was drunk and don't remember anything."
