Opposition parties said Tuesday they are considering linking the motion to dismiss Prime Minister Chung Un-chan to the passage of a bill to send security forces to Afghanistan if the governing Grand National Party boycotts a National Assembly vote on the issue.

Floor leaders of the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) and the Liberty Forward Party (LFP) met for discussions on the matter Tuesday, while lawmakers said they will make a final decision Wednesday.

Four opposition parties plan to submit to the Assembly a bill calling for the dismissal of Chung for his role in pushing the revision of an administrative town plan.

``We need to do something to pass this motion,'' said Rep. Ryu Keun-chan of the LFP.

Ryu said that linking the Chung issue to the troop dispatch is one of the options that the parties can take.

LFP officials said DP leaders have agreed in principle on the matter.

The motion to send troops to Afghanistan is awaiting approval by the Assembly Defense Committee.
