Jeju United midfielder Koo Ja-cheol will have a trial with Blackburn Rovers in the English Premier League (EPL).
According to his K-League side, Blackburn offered the test to Koo in December and Jeju will give him full support.
Koo, who is currently training with the Korean national team in South Africa, will fly to England for a tryout after a friendly with Finland on Jan. 18 in Malaga, Spain.
``I thank manager Huh Jung-moo for allowing me to have a trial. I really want to become a Premier leaguer,'' Koo said.
The 20-year-old, who was selected third in the K-League draft in 2007, has appeared in 58 matches and has scored three goals and notched seven assists to establish himself as a budding star.
He made his debut on the international stage at 18 against China at the East Asian Football Championship on Feb. 17, 2008.
If Koo joins the Rovers, he will become the eighth South Korean export to the world's top football league following Park Ji-sung of Manchester United, Lee Young-pyo of Tottenham Hotspur, Seol Ki-hyeon of Fulham, Lee Dong-gook of Middlesbrough, Kim Do-heon of West Bromwich Albion, Cho Won-hee of Wigan Athletic and Lee Chung-yong of Bolton Wanderers.
However, currently just three of them ― Park, Seol and Lee ― still play in the EPL.
Blackburn has shown interest in several Korean footballers including Ahn Jung-hwan, Lee Keun-ho and Cho Jae-jin, but none of them has played for the team.
