Police requested the prosecution to file an arrest warrant Thursday for a 24-year-old judo coach who beat his elementary school student with an iron pipe.
According to Suwon Jungbu Police Station, the man, whose identification wasn't disclosed, is accused of beating the 11-year-old victim on the buttock and thigh areas more than 50 times when he tried to run away from a training session on Oct. 28. The victim, who hesitated to report it to his parents or school out of fear, had to receive two skin transplants and is awaiting another one next year.
The coach was on a voluntary program while working at the Suwon Paldal District Office as an alternative to military service. He has reportedly admitted all the allegations.
