A Great Dane dog in Arizona is seeking the title of world's tallest dog.

The dog, named George, 4, stands 1.1 meters from paw to shoulder, 2.8 meters long from nose to tail and weighs 111 kilograms.

He is about the size of a small pony. The Daily Mirror reported that he uses a queen-size bed and enjoys the rear seat of mid-size sedan reshaped for George.

George, which is also reported to eat 50 kg of food a month, has been attracting great popularity on social networking sites, such as Twitters and Facebooks, the daily said on the Internet. A growing number of people regularly visit the sites with daily life of George and a fan club created recently.

His owners David and Christine Nasser are now waiting to hear back from Guinness World Records, the Mirror said.

이름이 '조지'(4)인 이 개는 발부터 어깨까지의 키가 1.1 미터, 코부터 꼬리까지의 키가 2.8 미터이며, 무게는 111㎏에 달한다.

언뜻 보면 말을 연상케 할 정도로 커다란 몸집을 자랑하는 조지는 혼자서 퀸 사이즈의 침대를 사용하며, 중형 자동차의 뒷좌석을 '조지 전용석'으로 개조해 사용하는 호사를 누린다.

한달에 50㎏이 넘는 먹이를 해치우는 이 개는 트위터와 페이스북 등 소셜네트워킹 사이트에서도 큰 인기를 끌고 있다. 조지의 일상을 담은 이 사이트들에는 고정방문자가 생겼고, 최근에는 팬클럽까지 생겼을 정도다.

주인인 나세르 데이비드 부부는 현재 세계기네스기록협회에 등재신청을 한 상태라고 밝혔다.
