Twenty-two more people have died in South Korea from the influenza A (H1N1) virus, raising the country's total death toll from the new flu to 104, health authorities said Wednesday.

The infection rate and number of fatalities from the pandemic were waning in the second week of November after the death toll peaked at the end of last month, when 24 people died between Oct. 25-31, the central disaster relief headquarters said.

Out of the 104 who died from the new flu, 89 patients were classified as high-risk and 15 others were not, officials said.

The number of people given prescriptions for the anti-viral drug Tamiflu stood at 48,182 in the third week of this month, down from 100,322 in the first week and 87,613 the second week, they said.

Over 400 schools nationwide enforced temporary closures in the first week of November due to the flu outbreak. Most of the schools have resumed classes, but 17 still remained shut as of Monday, according to the relief center.

Some 2.8 million students have been inoculated so far under a government plan to administer the H1N1 vaccine to 7.5 million students by early December, according to the health authority.

하지만 신종플루로 인한 사망자와 사망률은 지난달 말 최대를 기록한 이후 감소세를 보이고 있다고 중앙재난안전대책본부가 밝혔다.

관계자들은 총 140명의 사망자 중 89명은 고위험군에 속하며 15명은 그렇지 않은 것으로 나타났다고 밝혔다.

11월 셋째주에 타미플루를 처방받은 사람은 48,182명으로 첫째주 100,322, 둘째주 87,613명에 비해 많이 줄었다.

신종플루 때문에 휴교한 학교는 11월 첫째주 전국적으로 400개 이상에 달한 것으로 나타났다. 대부분의 학교는 다시 문을 열었지만 17개교는 아직 휴교 중인 것으로 알려졌다.

12월초까지 750만명을 대상으로 백신 접종을 마친다는 정부 계획에 따라 지금까지 280만명dl 백신 접종을 받았다.
