The Institute for Research on Collaborationist Activists said Wednesday it will release a list of Koreans who supported Japanese colonial rule (1910-1945).
In the 3,000-page report, 4,370 names of those who collaborated with the Japanese regime and its expansionary war will be revealed along with their "acts of betrayal to the nation." Renowned figures such as former President Park Chung-hee, former Prime Minister Jang Myun, dancer Choi Seung-hee, musical composers Hong Nan-pa and Ahn Eak-tai and many others will be listed, the institute said.
"Some of those who were known as independent fighters are also to be named for collaborationist activities," the organization said.
The institute will investigate another 400 in the near future.
The report was drawn by 150 professional historians and was written by 150 people, with 80 researchers studying more than 3,000 documents.
