Genetic information on indigenous animals on the verge of extinction will be set up in a database, the Ministry of Environment said Thursday.

Among the animals included is the Asiatic Black bear.

Vice Environment Minister Lee Byung-wook said during an opening ceremony for the data storage center in Gurye, South Jeolla Province, that the database will aid preservation efforts by improving understanding of the endangered animals.
