The city of Ulsan has enacted a decree calling for measures to help foreigners adapt to a new life in the city.
The city council approved a proposal by the Nam-gu district to support foreigners wishing to settle in at the city.
Under the decree, perspective foreign residents are expected to receive help in Korean language skill acquisition, consultations in legal and job affairs and administrative help in starting a business.
Ahead of the decree going into effect, the city is conducting a survey to check the status of foreigners’ life. The decree is expected to take effect next month.
“It is a two-pronged approach,” a city official said. “One is dealing with legitimate foreign residents and the other is aimed at helping the illegals come out.”
