Conflicts are deepening between female and male students at Seoul National University after a woman student residing in the school dormitory put up a large poster accusing a male student ― whose identity she did not know ― of stealing several dozen pairs of her underwear.
There have been several cases of underwear theft at the university dormitory, but it is the first time that a female student has complained about it publicly, according to the school dormitory manager. The poster has emboldened female students to blame male students for the frequent occurrence of underwear theft.
But male students hit back, claiming there was a lack of evidence. "There is a possibility that a female student stole the underwear. We cannot tell for now who did so," said a male student on the school's online community.
Another male student said that normal men don't satisfy their sexual desire in that way.
With the growing number of underwear theft cases last year, the school dormitory has installed a surveillance camera in its washing room. From the fall semester, the school plans to remove the public laundry room and set up a washing machine in every house of the dormitory.
