Anti-Mom Community Shocks Bloggers

By Kim Rahn
Staff Reporter

An online cafe dubbed as an "anti-mom" community, where members curse their mothers and other family members, has caused a stir among Internet users.

The site was closed Tuesday by its operator due to mounting criticism, but some postings, as well as images from the Web site, are spreading through the Internet.

On the opening page of the site, which is operated by a middle school girl and with some 100 members, featured a welcome message that began: "The noble title of 'mother,' who bears dear life, has already been degraded. Have mothers, who need to raise children to have a happy life, fulfilled their duty properly?"

The message continued, "Parents who hurt and annoy children are not parents. We are not your slaves. Do we always have to obey them, those who annoy us?"

Members called their parents all sorts of names, with some saying that they wanted to kill their parents.

One member posted, "I want to kill my mom, who always sends me on errands, not my brother." Another said, "My mom forces me to study even on Saturdays. I'd like to commit suicide."

Shocked Internet users criticized the site, its operator and members, saying it showed the height of immorality.

"They will gain their sanity again when they have children who behave like they are now," said blogger Eoritkwangdae. Another blogger, Hacheu, said, "You curse your mom, and do you still take the meals that she makes for you? You should be thankful for living together with your parents."

Internet user Hoeoragi posted, "Look at the reality of Korean society. Should schools still focus on teaching math, English and subjects like that? They should first teach humanity and the value of family and life."

WOW..I had problems with my parents (or should I say my parents had a problem with me) but never wished them dead...that is so cruel..my parents were strict..had to be home by 9 every night..Saturdays included, and I survived..wouldn't trade my parents for anyone else..even though they are gone now..I still love them...maybe more..

tHRE NEEDS TO BE A BALANCE BETWEEN WHAT KIDS WANT AND PARENTS WANT, IT IS NOT THE SAME THING, COMPROMISE, SO THAT KIDS CAN HAVE AN OUTLET AND BE HAPPIER, AND PARENTS WILL LEARN TO NOT BE SO HARD ON THEM

Sounds like the David Theissen Blog. Where is that painting you made for your mother, assiologist? You know, the one with the picture of you slam dunking a basketball thru her face. What a Christian like gesture that was.
