Freshmen at Seoul National University (SNU) have recorded lower scores on English tests developed by the school in recent years. Their average scores of TEPS, short for Test of English Proficiency, fell to 639 points out of a full score of 990 this year out from 654 last year and 689 in 2006.
The test, introduced in 1999, consists of 200 questions in listening, grammar, vocabulary and reading.
Students of the business administration school topped all with an average of 847 points, while the college of liberal arts studies marked 801 points, followed by the college social science with 788 points, the college of humanities with 744 points and the college of engineering with 649 points.
