The prosecution appealed Friday against a court ruling that acquitted online commentator Park Dae-sung, better known by his Internet nickname ``Minerva."
Prosecutors claimed in the appeal that Park, 31, had violated the telecommunications law.
Park was arrested and indicted in early January on charges of spreading false information online about the government's financial policy through articles he posted on a Daum bulletin board on July 30 and Dec. 29 last year.
A court found him not guilty Monday, saying he wrote the articles without the knowledge that they contained false information and didn't intend to harm the public interest.
The detention of Park, often dubbed as an ``Oracle'' in cyberspace, drew keen attention, along with a fierce debate over freedom of expression. When released after the ruling, Park said that from now on he would use his real name.
