Rep. Choi Moon-soon of the Democratic Party (DP) alleged Tuesday that Lee So-young, director of the Korea National Opera, fabricated her career record on her resume, calling on the culture ministry to investigate the case thoroughly and make the result public.
``Lee said she served as director of Seoul National University's (SNU) Opera Institute between February 1998 and December 1999 on her resume, but it turned out that she had not done so,'' said Choi.
Prof. Park Se-won of SNU's College of Music, who is now serving as the director of the institute, denied her career record, saying that he and Prof. Kang Byung-woon took the job.
Lee made an excuse in an interview that she did serve as a deputy director, not director, during the aforementioned period and she knew that the career record was mistaken.
``However, I decided to leave it as it is because Prof. Park told me at the time that it shouldn't be a problem,'' she was quoted as saying.
Rep. Choi, however, said a false career record is a big deal, especially for those who are in public service.
He urged the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to investigate her career records as well as educational background thoroughly to find out the truth.
