Seocho Police booked a 54-year-old man Saturday for attacking a police officer who refused to accept his complaint that a street vendor sold him an over-priced fish cake on a stick.
The unidentified man bought a fish cake snack at a stall in southern Seoul, thinking that it would cost 500 won. When the vendor demanded 1,000 won, the man got angry and reported it to police on his cell phone.
When no police officer appeared on the scene, he went to a police station to protest that his report had been ignored. He then hit out at an officer escorting him out of the station.
Snack stalls in Seoul used to sell fish cake sticks for 500 won apiece, but some now charge 1,000 won to make ends meet amid an economic slump.
