Korean Basketball League (KBL) foreign players Terrence Shannon Sr. and Calvin Warner were released by the SK Knights and the KT&G Kites, respectively, Friday.
Suwon Regional Prosecutors charged Shannon, Warner and former SK Knights forward DeAngelo Collins with smoking marijuana, Thursday.
The Knights and the Kites announced they decided to let the two players go one day after the charge.
Shannon, who has played in Korea for two years, said he had never violated KBL regulations and would therefore prove his innocent in court, according to Yonhap News Agency.
``The prosecution's charges might hurt the sport. We will release Warner so he can't disappoint the fans," a KT&G official said.
