The Korean husband, found guilty of raping his Filipino wife last Friday, was found dead in what appears to be a suicide in his home in Busan, police said Tuesday.
According to police, his neighbor found the husband identified as Lim, 43, hanging from a power chord tied to the kitchen ceiling, at 2:30 p.m.
A suicide note, in which he complained about the court decision, was found at the scene, they said.
Lim was indicted in July last year after a suit filed by his 25-year-old Filipino spouse after being accused of forcing her to have sex frequently using weapons such as a knife and gas gun.
In a ruling last Friday, Busan District Court sentenced him to 30 months in prison, suspended for three years, on charges of raping his wife, the first time marital rape was recognized by a Korean court.
