Cooks and other catering experts are expected to be in high demand in 10 years, according to a survey of 1,082 job search and recruiting experts.

The Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training conducted a survey of job experts to find out about prospects for jobs in the services industry a decade from now.

Jeong Yun-gyeong, of the institute, said the future of the catering business was bright, as more double income families will choose to dine out. ``Chefs, cooks, bartenders and waitresses will be rather sought after,'' she said.

Translators, interpreters and authors in humanities and art will also be in high demand, coming in fifth place in demand. International traders and other liaison staff will see their status elevated in the future, the institute said.

Lawyers and doctors will not lose their popularity. Lawyers, police and correctional officers will remain in second place while professors and other educational service providers will come in third, while doctors, dentists and other health experts will come in at fourth place.

PR manager, counselor and curator seem like average positions now but it will become much more popular, the report said.

Nurses, janitors and customer service representatives don't seem glamorous now but will be more so than ever in a decade, the survey said.

However, high-ranking civil servants, workers at financial firms, elementary and middle school teachers and overseas salespeople will be less sought after positions.

``It depends on the industry's future. In the 70s and 80s, manufacturing and economic development-related fields were highlighted, but now, it's the era of services jobs,'' said Han Sang-geun, an official of the institute.

Then, what will be the job with the worst conditions in the future? Entertainment manager was picked as the worst job for now, while film director is expected to be the worst job in 10 years.
