Regular medical checkup results for foreign workers will be available in 10 languages from next month, the Ministry of Labor said Friday.
A result sheet format will be published in English, Chinese, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Russian, Thai, Mongolian and Sri Lankan and be distributed at 127 designated medical facilities for foreign workers. Workers need to ask for foreign manuals when receiving the test result there.
The result itself will be printed in Korean, but by matching each sector with their own languages, people will be able to see the exact status of their health, ministry official Kim Sun-young said.
The translation comes as several deaths or health problems occurred among foreign workers due to their inability to understand the results.
``Some foreign workers had some critical illnesses but didn't get treatment because they did not know how to analyze the test results and therefore did not consult doctors. Those who cannot read what Korean doctors have written on their paper can visit a local migrant workers' center for further translation,'' Kim said.
