The SK Wyverns failed to advance to the final after losing to the Uni-President Lions of Taiwan 10-4 at Tokyo Dome Stadium in the Konami Cup Asia Series Saturday in Japan.

The Wyverns were left stunned by the Uni-President Lions, allowing four homeruns.

Though The Wyverns went 2-1, sharing the lead with the Seibu Lions of Japan and the Uni-President Lions, Korea's No. 1 team finished third because they conceded the most between the trio.

According to the rules of the Konami Cup, the team allowing the fewest can advance to the next round when teams' records are equal.

The Wyverns got on the scoreboard in the second inning with Lee Jin-young's solo dinger.

Korean starter Chae Byeong-yong pitched three scoreless innings, but he suddenly lost control in the fourth inning.

After Yang Sen of the Uni-President Lions hit an RBI single while the runners were at first and third base, Liu Fu-hao hit a three-run homer to the right fence and Kao Chih-kang sent another ball to the left fence earn a 5-1 lead.

The Lions' Chen Lien-hung added another solo homerun in the fifth.

The Wyverns also produced two scores in the sixth inning to make the score 6-3.

While leadoff Jeong Keun-woo went to the first after an error by the Lions' third baseman, Park Jae-sang hit a double to occupy the second and third base.

Cho Dong-hwa, who only recorded a strikeout and a ground ball, hit two RBIs-triples.

But the Wyverns didn't earn a score as sluggers Kim Jae-hyun, Park Jae-hong and Lee Jin-young failed to make a hit.

The Wyverns added a run in the eight inning courtesy of Jung's triple and Park Jae-sang's RBI single.

The Lions, though, stunned the Koreans in the eighth.

The Wyverns allowed another three-run homerun to Liu and an RBI single.

The Lions slugger Liu sent two balls over the fence, producing six RBIs.

``The reason we lost the game is our pitcher's conditions were not good,'' the Wyverns manager Kim Sung-keun said.
