The education ministry said it is investigating complaints by students who claim they were disturbed by music during an English listening test at Thursday’s state-administered college entrance exam.
Some students taking the College Scholastic Ability Test at two schools in Seoul are claiming they could not concentrate on the listening exam due to music coming from speakers in the classrooms where they took the test.
They are claiming they could not hear the listening tests because of the music.
``I could not concentrate on the test because of the noise. I’ve ruined my test because of the school’s lack of preparation,’’ a student said.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is now inspecting the schools in question to find reasons behind the incident.
``It seems the school audio facility was wrongly set and caused a problem at some test rooms,’’ a ministry official said. The ministry is also questioning the school principal and test supervisors and scrutinizing the audio facility.
