Prime Minister to Visit Middle East

Prime Minister
Han Seung-soo
Prime Minister Han Seung-soo will visit Qatar, Kuwait and Turkey from Nov. 27 to Dec. 3 to discuss energy cooperation and enhanced economic ties, his office said Monday.

During his stay in Qatar, Han will make a keynote speech at the Doha development conference to express plans to expand official assistance to underdeveloped countries, an aide to Han said.

Among those present at the meeting will be King Abdullah II of Jordan and French President Nicolas Sarkozy, the aide said.

The prime minister will meet Qatari King Hamad Khalifa and Prime Minister Hamad Jassim to discuss cooperation in the liquefied natural gas and construction sectors.

Han is also scheduled to meet U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon; Pascal Lamy, director general of the World Trade Organization; and Angel Gurria, secretary general of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

South Korea is the world's fifth biggest oil importer.
