Former President Roh Moo-hyun is scheduled to launch ``Democracy 2.0,'' a Web site for political debates, Thursday which he has been preparing since his retirement late February, an aide said Tuesday.
``A beta test has been conducted with some Internet users. The Web site is expected to be open for ordinary people after the final test is done,'' Roh's secretary Kim Kyung-soo said.
The former President worked hard on making the site, based on Web 2.0, a new version of the World Wide Web to enhance information sharing and social networking, he said.
Once it is open, netizens can post subjects they want to discuss and join debates.
After a debate reaches a conclusion, contents will be stored on the site's server and anyone will be allowed to access the archives at any time, the aide said.
Kim said that the site is under construction and some parts may not be accessible for nonmembers after its launch.
The former President has restrained from making remarks regarding political issues. However, the main opposition Democratic Party (DP), the de facto successor of the now-defunct governing Uri Party to which Roh belonged, has kept a close eye on his moves since rumors have it that the Web site may leverage former and incumbent pro-Roh lawmakers to form their own group for political activities.
