LG Electronics has been chosen as the provider of high definition televisions at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minn., next week to select John McCain as the Republican presidential nominee, according to the convention's official Web site Wednesday.

Maria Cino, president and CEO of the 2008 Republican National Convention, was quoted by the Web site as saying that "LG Electronics will serve as the convention's Official HDTV Provider."

"In this capacity, LG will provide the high-definition televisions that will be used at convention events and in support of convention activities," Cino was quoted as saying by Yonhap News. "Our partnership with LG will ensure that convention attendees remain well-informed and that convention operations run smoothly and efficiently."

LG will provide televisions in various sizes in several locations to ensure staff members and convention guests can keep track of events from anywhere inside the convention complex.

LG televisions will also be placed in convention offices and media spaces, allowing staff members and the press to monitor events occurring on the convention floor and ensuring that the convention's 45,000 attendees can easily navigate the convention complex, Yonhap said.
