The younger brother of National Police Agency Commissioner General Eo Cheong-soo has been linked to prostitution at a bar in Busan, police said Wednesday.

The brother invested 1.7 billion won in Ramada Hotel on Haeundae Beach, which opened in April, spending 450 million won of the money on a bar inside the hotel, Busan police said.

In late April, Busan MBC reported that prostitutes were using the bar to get customers. Eo's brother denied involvement in the bar's management, saying he was just an investor. Four people were charged, including the bar owner, but Eo's brother was cleared.

The probe into the case was resumed, however, after the discovery of an under-the-table contract made by Eo's brother, the hotel and the hotel builder. In the contract, Eo's brother agreed to take over the bar's lease and cooperate in management, an officer said.

Eo's brother maintained his innocence, saying he is only an investor who helps run the bar.

Commissioner General Eo came under fire last month after his agency was found to have requested Web sites to cut access to a video clip of the report on his brother. Police sent a letter to sites such as YouTube and Daum demanding the clip's deletion, saying the report was libelous.
