The nation's three major conservative newspapers have decided to halt supplies of news feeds to leading local Web portal Daum to protest negative postings on its online forums against them.
The Chosun-Ilbo, JoongAng-Ilbo and Donga-Ilbo gave verbal notices to Daum last week that they would discontinue offering news this week, Daum said Tuesday.
The portal said it has yet to receive official written notification from the papers.
The newspapers said unsupervised forum postings on the site have instigated actions taken by netizens against them. On these forums, Internet users have displayed lists of companies running ads in the papers and called for a boycott of both the newspapers and the companies.
The Chosun, Joongang and Donga have been critical of candlelit vigils protesting the government's decision to resume American beef imports.
