South Korea and the United States have ended their "additional talks" in Washington to discuss the possible revision of the beef import agreement without compromise.
"Trade Minister Kim Jong-hoon already left Washington to return to Seoul," Yonhap News quoted an official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade as saying Monday. ``There has not been a compromise yet.''
The allies will continue the beef talks through diplomatic channels, the official said.
An agreement signed between South Korea and the United States in mid-April sparked massive street protests by South Koreans in Seoul and other major cities, who accuse the government of abandoning "quarantine sovereignty" for the sake of improving trade relations with Washington.
