Singer Psy to Be Redrafted

The Seoul Administrative Court ruled Wednesday entertainer Park Jae-sang, 30, widely known by his stage name ``Psy,'' must be redrafted, rejecting a lawsuit filed by Park against the Military Manpower Administration in August.

By the court decision, he must report for duty on Dec. 17.

But the entertainer plans to appeal against the decision soon. ``We will decide the next step after examining the ruling,'' said Kang Sung-ho, lawyer for Park.

Park worked for a local information technology (IT) company for two years (2003~2005) instead of the two-year-long obligatory military service for males aged over 20.

Since May, he had been under investigation by the prosecution on suspicions of dodging military service. Following the probe, the prosecution announced it had acquired evidence proving that he had violated working regulations banning employees from participating in private activities during regular work hours.

The administration requested Park enlist on Aug. 6 for another 20-month service. But he refused, filing a lawsuit against the government, claiming that its decision is unfair.
