South Korea's Lee Seung-hoon took the gold in the men's 1,500-meter finals at the International Skating Union (ISU) World Cup short track speedskating event Sunday at the Utah Olympic Oval in the United States.
Lee, who came in with a time of 2:13.922, was followed by compatriot Lee Ho-suk (2:14.072) and Apolo Anton Ohno (2:14.252) of the U.S., as South Korean men continued to step up after the loss of ace skater Ahn Hyun-soo, who is out for the season with a knee injury.
In the men's 500-meter finals, Korea's Sung Si-bak came in at 41.226 seconds to earn the silver, finishing behind Canada's Charles Hamelin (41.205 seconds) in one of the tightest races of the event.
The South Korean women didn't match the brilliance of their men's counterparts, with Jung Eun-joo, who finished fifth in the 1,500-meter finals, faring better than Yang Shin-young at 11th and Olympic champion Jin Sun-yu at 15th.
