Police Wednesday sought an arrest warrant for a woman who allegedly killed her stepson and buried him on a mountain.
The stepmother, identified by her surname Oh, previously reported to police that her stepson, Woo Young-jin, went missing but she confessed to the murder, Tuesday.
She beat her six-year-old stepson to death on Feb. 5 and buried his body on a mountain in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, a policeman from the Ulsan Police Station said.
The 30-year-old stepmother first reported to the police that her stepson did not return after leaving home and the police began a search. After failing to secure clues, the police launched a large-scale search operation on Feb. 9.
Oh married Woo's father last December and shortly after started beating her stepson, they added.
Upon the separation of his parents, Woo was raised by his father's sister until last year, and only began living with his father after he and Oh married.
