President-elect Lee Myung-bak will send special envoys to the United States, Japan, China and Russia next month to achieve a breakthrough on the North Korean nuclear issue, an aide to Lee said Monday.

The envoys will convey Lee's personal letters to the leaders of the four nations via the envoys, requesting summits to discuss issues of mutual concern at an early date, he said.

Reps. Chung Mong-joon and Park Jin of the Grand National Party, and former Foreign Minister Yoo Jong-ha are likely to go to Washington, sources said.
