Samsung Electronics Co. sold more than $2 billion worth of liquid crystal display (LCD) panels in October, maintaining its No. 1 status in the global flat-panel market for 30 months in a row, a report showed Thursday.
According to the report by DisplaySearch, Samsung Electronics' LCD sales amounted to $2.03 billion last month, accounting for 24 percent of the $8.5-billion global market. It is the first time that Samsung's monthly LCD sales have exceeded the 2-billion mark.
Samsung outperformed its rivals both in small- and large-sized LCD panel sales. The company sold $1.84 billion worth of LCD panels measuring 10 inches diagonally last month, higher than No. 2 LG.Philips LCD Co. with $1.62 billion.
In sales of LCDs measuring less than 10 inches diagonally, Samsung also ranked first with sales worth $191 million, while Taiwanese company AUO came next with $173 million, the report showed.
