Six U.S. soldiers were charged with violence against a Korean restaurant owner.
Police said Sunday it was investigating six U.S. soldiers over alleged violent behavior at a local restaurant in the early hours of Sunday.
Six soldiers from Camp Walker are accused of physically abusing the 37-year-old owner of the restaurant in Daegu, and her mother around 12:30 a.m.
The two women accused the soldiers, who they said were intoxicated, of repeatedly kicking the signboard in front of the restaurant and then beating them when they tried to stop the violence.
Police said they handed the U.S. soldiers over to the U.S. military police and that they plan to re-summon them for questioning in the near future.
The United States stations about 28,000 troops in Korea as a legacy of the Korean War ended in 1953 with an armistice.
Camp Walker is a U.S. base located in Daegu, some 300 kilometers southeast of Seoul.
