PYONGYANG ― President Roh Moo-hyun attended an official welcoming ceremony to North Korea at the April 25 House of Culture.
Then he was accompanied by Kim Yong-nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, in his limousine to the Baekhwawon State Guesthouse.
Upon his arrival at 12:21 p.m, President Roh was greeted by State Guesthouse Director Kim Kuk-phyong and received a bouquet from two women staff members.
President Roh briefly watched a recorded broadcast of his arrival in Pyongyang on a South Korean-made LCD TV.
The South Korean President dined with the first lady and members of his delegation at 12:50 p.m.
During the luncheon, President Roh praised the beautiful scenery he saw while traveling on the expressway between Gaeseong and Pyongyang.
He also commented on the North's agriculture, development of natural resources and light manufacturing industries.
The luncheon menu consisted of Korean traditional foods including sinseollo (traditional stew), boiled mandarin fish simmered in a soy sauce-based sauce, naengchae (cold vegetables with various seasonings) as well as songpyeon (rice cake stuffed with beans).
