Thailand’s public officials visited Seoul Monday to benchmark the Korean government’s human resources system. A group of 24 Thailand public recruiters from the Office of Civil Service Commission came here to learn recruitment and personnel systems from their counterparts in Korea.

The Thailand group including Visoot Prasitsiriwongse, director of the manpower inspection bureau, was interested in Korea’s personnel administration for public servants such as ``non-competitive recruitment from the private sector,’’ ``open recruitment system’’ and ``competency evaluation model.’’

The group is also scheduled to visit the Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management and Samsung Electronics during its visit to Korea until Friday.

``To share and discuss advanced public personnel systems, the two countries need to strengthen cooperation,’’ an official of the commission said.

Established in 1999, the Civil Service Commission is the government’s human management agency which sets up basic personnel polices and administers recruitment examinations. Most job seekers in Korea still prefer jobs in the public sector and invest much time in preparing for the public servant examination.
