Three Japanese warships of the Maritime Self-Defense Force Wednesday made a port call in Incheon, the last stop on their worldwide training cruise, the Navy said in a press release.

The vessels _ a 4,050-ton Kashima training ship, a 3,500-ton Sawagiri frigate and a 3,050-ton Shimayuki frigates _ are carrying 750 sailors, including 180 naval cadets, it said.

The Japanese ships are to conduct joint naval training exercises with South Korea's naval ships on Sunday in the waters off Ul Island in the West Sea, it said.

During their five-day stay, the Japanese sailors will hold friendship events for Korean sailors and locals such as a soccer match and a ship-opening event, it added.

The Japanese are scheduled to visit the border village of Panmunjeom in the Demilitarized Zone dividing the two Koreas, the National Cemetery in Seoul and the 2nd Navy Fleet in Pyeongtaek, 70 kilometers south of Seoul.
