Seoul City to Designate Global Zones

Listen

The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to designate global zones by the end of the year in order to draw more foreign funds and develop into a global city.

Under the global project, the city government will select 15 districts where many foreigners reside and support them with foreigner-friendly administrative services. It also plans to build two more international schools in the zones.

The project will consist of three different zones _ ``global business zone,’’ ``global culture exchange zone’’ and ``global village.’’

In the global business zone, ``Seoul Global Center’’ will be established to deal with business affairs for foreign companies.

In addition, the city will hire foreign staff, which makes up a quarter of the employees at administrative offices in the designated areas. Also, health clinic centers and children care centers for foreigners only will be established
