Korean-Chinese film collaboration “Cheese in the Trap” will hold open auditions in both countries to cast the lead female character, Hong Sul.
“The webtoon ‘Cheese in the Trap’ has been a huge hit in Asia amid the success of its TV drama version aired in January,” the movie’s Korean production company said Friday. “Therefore, we decided to find the female lead through an open audition, which will be simultaneously held in China and Korea.”
Korean actor Park Hae-jin, who starred in the TV drama “Cheese in the Trap,” has been confirmed as the movie’s male lead.
From August 1 to 15, participants can apply for an audition via the official websites of Korean production company Mountain Movement Story and its Chinese partner, Hanwei, in Shanghai.
A preliminary video interview will select 30 applicants, while 10 among the group will be singled out through another audition in Korea. One will be cast as Hong Sul and another from the top 10 will star as Hong’s friend, Nam Joo-yeon.
The production crew will start shooting the film at the beginning of next year.
