Novotel Ambassador Seoul Gangnam Hotel's restaurant, The Bistro, presents an Italian Cuisine Festival from April 11 till May 10.

The hotel's head chef Jacques Lollier from France is presenting dishes using ingredients from Korea, with a touch of his French cooking technique.

Featured dishes will include beef Carpaccio with marinated mushroom, Parmigiano shaves and virgin olive oil; beans, grilled zucchini and crab salad with balsamic dressing; green asparagus, risotto with cherry tomato, pork belly and oil Parmigiano; filet of fresh sea bream with pesto cream sauce, Tagliatelle with green asparagus and roasted cherry tomato; and traditional Italian dessert.

"Pesto sauce, tomato, Mozzarella cheese and olive oil are well-known ingredients for Mediterranean food in the world. Additional garlic ingredient is used for Korean food and has good balance with these four ingredients with light flavor," the chef told The Korea Times.

The festival is in collaboration with Alitalia, the Italian national flag carrier, and Italian Tourism Board, with an aim to attract more local diners in Seoul in a new season.

Those who participate in the festival can have a chance to win a prize. The top prize will be two Alitalia tickets between Incheon and Rome. Other prizes include two bottles of Italian wine and a roll cake made in the hotel. Guests are asked to bring business cards for a lucky draw which will take place at the end of the promotion in May. The winners will be contacted personally.

A course meal costs 105,000 won, but single dish orders are available as well. Tax and service charges are included in the price. For more information and reservations, call (02) 531-6604.

Novotel Ambassador Seoul Gangnam is a five-star hotel, aiming to attract business guests. The hotel facilities include a jogging track, gym, aerobics room, four restaurants and a spa.
