'Slim fit' school uniform poster lands JYP boss in hot water

JYP Entertainment president Park Jin-young is facing criticism over a school uniform brand's advertising poster that has been accused of encouraging students to go on extreme diets.

"Slim fit" poster that has the slogan "Let's get it on with slim fit."

In the poster, girl band members wear tight uniform items named "Corset Jacket" and "Shading Skirt."

The controversy ignited when a web user, "Weji Seonsaeng (Weji teacher)," said the ad encouraged teenage students to go on extreme diets because it focused on the girl group members' body shapes.

He said many female teenagers have anorexia due to excessive diets, and that school uniforms cause problems such as cramps and indigestion.

"Why do students have to wear a corset-like jacket?" he said. "Why do they have to wear a tight ‘Shading Skirt'?"

Skoolooks said the advertisement is just a concept to show that the company's uniforms make a student look slim.

"We feel sorry that many people think our ads hinder students' health, because it was certainly not intended," Skoolooks said.

박진영 교복 광고 선정성 논란

가수 박진영과 JYP엔터테인먼트 소속 신인 걸그룹 트와이스가 함께 출연한 교복 광고가 선정성 논란에 휩싸이며 뭇매를 맞았다.

    이들이 출연한 교복 업체 스쿨룩스의 광고 포스터에 '날씬함으로 한판 붙자', '스커트로 깎아라! 쉐딩 스커트', '재킷으로 조여라! 코르셋 재킷'이란 문구가 부적절하다는 지적이 제기된 것.

    이 포스터에는 박진영이 선글라스를 낀 채 몸매가 강조된 교복을 입은 트와이스 멤버들을 바라보는 듯한 모습이 담겼다.

    일선 학교에 광고가 나붙자 최근 한 온라인 커뮤니티에는 '박진영 씨의 스쿨룩스 교복 광고에 대한 사회적 견제를 요청합니다'란 제목으로 학생 대상 광고가 선정적인 마케팅을 하고 있다며 문제를 제기하는 글이 올라왔다.

    게시자는 경기도의 한 보건 교사가 초안을 작성했다고 밝힌 뒤 '교복 치마를 왜 쉐딩 스커트로 줄이고 깎아서 입어야 하나. 교복 재킷을 왜 코르셋처럼 조여서 입어야 하나'라며 '모두 여성 신체의 성적 매력을 두드러지게 하는 옷으로 10대 청소년들이 입는 교복에 어울리는 스타일이 아니다. '날씬함으로 한판 붙자'고 하면서 나온 교복 모델은 여중생, 여고생의 모습이 아니라 교복 패티시 주점이나 룸살롱의 종업원들처럼 보인다'고 강도 높게 항의했다.

    또 'TV에서 자주 보는 걸그룹 멤버들의 날씬한 몸매를 만들기 위해 표준 체형인 아이들도 무리한 다이어트를 하는 현실'이라며 '이런 현상은 저체중증, 면역력 저하, 거식증, 결핵 등의 질병으로 이어지고 있어서 학생들 건강에 큰 문제를 일으키고 있다. 숨 막히게 조이는 교복 때문에 생리통, 소화불량 등을 호소하는 여학생들이 증가하고 있는 것도 사실'이라고 호소했다.

    이에 대해 JYP는 14일 '교복 업체와 이 논란에 대해 논의 중'이라며 '곧 입장을 발표하겠다'고 밝혔다. (연합뉴스)
