Singer Seo Taiji said that he will release his ninth album in the new year.

"I am almost finishing off the new album and the album will completed in 2014," the 41-year-old singer wrote on his homepage.

Seo's last album was released in July 2008, heightening expectations for the upcoming one.

"Though recording takes several months, and I need more time to finish the work, I feel light-hearted and optimistic because I have already finished the hardest parts of the process for the new album," he said.

Since the eighth album, Seo has been working in both Korea and abroad. He currently lives in a new home in Pyeongchang- dong with his parents. This June, he also married actress Lee Eun-sung, who is 16 years his junior.

Referring to hateful Internet comments, Seo said he agrees with them, especially about his marriage. "As the commentators wrote, I am a childish senior singer who just got married to a far younger girl. But I think enjoying life with people who we love is really important, given the short period that we have. We can have a very fulfilling life if we unburden our minds."

About his everyday life, he said, "I don't watch TV that much. But these days I have become a big fan of ‘The Heirs' and ‘Reply 1994'. I can enjoy ‘The Heirs' thanks to my lovely wife, and ‘Reply 1994' is essential for me because it is the story of my youth."

Due to the high popularity of "Reply 1994," Seo is back in the spotlight. In the drama, one of the main characters is a big fan of his.
