GM Daewoo Auto & Technology will introduce ``Gentra X,'' the successor to its previous hatchback ``Kalos,'' starting Oct. 15, according to the automaker on Monday.
GM Daewoo said that the new car, with a new 1.2-liter DOHC engine that produces maximum output of 85 ps at 6,200 rpm, would be the first member of the next generation of sportier, younger and more stylish GM Daewoo vehicles.
``With the Gentra sedan, we proved that GM Daewoo could offer much more than one would expect of a conventional small car,'' said GM Daewoo President and CEO Michael Grimaldi. ``The Gentra X hatchback goes one step further, making it the smart choice for those who want an economical yet stylish and fun-to-drive vehicle.''
Gentra X with a 1.2-liter engine and manual transmission comes in two trim levels: the SE retails for 8.28 million won ($9,045) and the SX for 8.49 millionwon ($9,275). A new model with a 1.6-liter engine will be available starting next year.
