The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) added 0.16 percent, or 3.18 points, to 2,038.82 as of 11:20 a.m.
Tech shares continued to trade higher, with Samsung Electronics leading the market by rising 0.35 percent. Its rival LG Electronics also moved up 1.93 percent. Chipmaker SK hynix added 2.71 percent.
Builders were also winners, with Hyundai Engineering & Construction rising 1.76 percent and Daewoo Engineering & Construction climbing 0.36 percent. GS Engineering & Construction added 2.37 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,041.65 won against the U.S. dollar as of 11:20 a.m., down 1.75 won from Wednesday's close. (Yonhap)
