LG Uplus CEO Lee Sang-chul ambitiously said he wants to share frequency bandwidth with the remaining two local telecom carriers, which SK Telecom and KT say is ``silly and nonsense.’’

In a dinner meeting with local reporters, last week, the LG CEO blamed the nation’s top telecom regulator of letting billing charges see a steep increase as the current auction scheme is causing fees to be too high.

``LG Uplus will introduce five new world’s first long-term evolution (LTE) network services by the end of this year. LG plans to increase the number of our LTE customers to 5 million, which is enough to maintain a safe second,’’ said the company’s chief executive.

The current market leader SK Telecom plans to increase its LTE customers to 7 million, while LG’s biggest rival KT is aiming to secure 4 million, according to companies.

Referring to its LTE business growth, the CEO said LG’s debt-ratio will decrease throughout this year from the current 200 percent.

Lee also said that the firm will start voice over LTE services in the second half of the year, while stressing that the main goal is to combine all features available through the Internet into one platform rather than increasing connectivity speed.

Company officials said the firm is currently working to commercialize multi carrier technology during the second half of the year, while carrier aggregation will be achieved over the same period next year.
