Top policymakers disagree on how to tackle debt, economy

The nation’s top two finance policymakers are under fire for not seeing eye to eye on how key pending issues such as mounting household debt and the future course of Asia’s fourth-largest economy should be dealt with, causing confusion in the market and undermining policy effects.

Market experts express concerns that if they continue to fail to coordinate their voices, financial authorities will have difficulties achieving the intended outcome of policies because market players will lose confidence in the government.
