POSCO beefs up cooperation with Google
By Kim Jae-won POSCO has teamed up with Google in a bid to cement cooperation to establish a future management system, a move expected to help create a more convenient and integrated workplace, the company said Thursday. The world’s third-largest steelmaker said its Chairman Chung Joon-yang agreed with Google Chairman Eric Schmidt Tuesday to enforce their cooperation in developing a high-tech management system at a meeting at Google’s main office in San Francisco. The company said the new system will be equipped with Google’s innovative technologies and POSCO’s business abilities. POSCO also agreed to adopt Google’s advanced search and mobile technologies and solutions to the company’s management system titled POSPIA 3.0. The two chief executives also agreed to seek additional sectors, where they could cooperate. Experts say the collaboration between the two companies is based on a win-win strategy, through which POSCO gets advanced technologies, while Google gains a stepping stone to East Asian markets. POSCO said Chung’s visit is a follow-up meeting after the two CEOs signed a memorandum of understanding when Schmidt visited the POSCO Center in November. The two companies exchanged ideas on a wide range of human resources management ideas from hiring and incentives to education through the two meetings. The nation’s foremost steelmaker also benchmarked Google’s real-time cooperation method. The two are looking to expand collaborations to areas such as communications, working time, and internal communities to create a more innovative office culture. |
