Hyundai Corp., a Korean trading firm, said Thursday that it has won a $300 million deal to build a thermal power plant in Colombia.
Under the deal with Termotasajero S.A. of Colombia, Hyundai and its sister firm Hyundai Engineering Co. plan to construct a coal-powered plant with a 160-megawatt capacity in the central region of the South American country.
The project is scheduled for completion 36 months after construction begins, Hyundai Corp. said.
Termotasajero has been operating a 163-megawatt power plant in northern Colombia since 1984.
Hyundai Corp. said it expects the latest deal to help it make inroads into Latin America's power plant market. (Yonhap)
