Gimchijjigae is workers favorite lunch menu

Check what Korean office workers have for lunch and “gimchijjigae” will top the list of their picks.

The choice — a thick soup with a generous portion of kimchi with pieces of pork or fish — tops the list of office workers’ lunch choices in a survey conducted by an online job portal. Those who picked the soup said they usually eat it to help them overcome a hangover from heavy drinking the previous night, and its reasonable price being another reason.

The 46 percent of respondents in the survey of 733 office employees nationwide chose it as their favorite lunch item. Job Korea conducted the survey on Dec. 15-19.

“Gimchijjigae is priced at about 5,000 to 6,000 won per serving, and is readily available in many Korean restaurants,” a Job Korea spokeswoman said. The respondents also said that its popularity is also due to the fact that more than one person can order together and share it.

“It most fits Koreans’ appetite for spicy foods. That’s why it ranks top as Koreans’ most beloved lunch dish.”

“Doenjangjjigae” came second garnering 36.8 percent of the votes, followed by “baekban” and “bibimbap,” which earned 34.4 percent and 23.9 percent, respectively. The respondents were allowed to pick multiple choices.

Doenjangjjigae is a traditional Korean soup, made with doenjang, or Korean soybean paste, and ingredients such as vegetables, mushrooms, seafood, or tofu. Baekban refers to a Korean table d’hote, which consists of white rice, soup, and a few side dishes. ” means white, and “ban” is cooked rice in Korean.

Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with “namul,” seasoned vegetables and gochujang, or chili pepper paste. A raw or fried egg and sliced beef are also added.

Western dishes were not quite popular. Only 6.3 percent of respondents chose hamburgers for their favorite lunch item, while sandwiches and spaghetti were selected by 5 percent and 3.1 percent respectively.

Office workers spent an average of 4,885 won for lunch, the survey said. Employees who used a restaurant paid 5,372 won per dish on average, while those eating at in-house cafeterias paid 3,338 won.

직장인이 가장 즐기는 점심 메뉴는 김치찌개

푸짐한 김치와 돼지고기나 생선이 들어가 있는 진한국물. 한 취업 포털 사이트가 조사한 결과 김치찌개는 직장인들이 뽑은 최고의 점심 메뉴였다. 이들은 전날 과음을 했을 때 속을 풀어 주고 저렴한 가격으로 인해 김치찌개를 선택했다고 전했다.

전국 직장인 총 733명을 조사한 결과 응답자 중 46퍼센트가 김치찌개를 뽑았다. 취업 포털 사이트 잡코리아는 지난 12월 15일부터 19일까지 5일 동안 조사 하였다.

잡코리아 관계자는 “김치 찌개는 한 그릇 당 5000-6000원 정도 하며, 대부분의 한식당에서 먹을 수 있다,”고 전했다. 응답자들은 또한 한 그릇을 시켜도 한 사람이상이 나눠 먹을 수 있기에 인기가 많다고 말했다.

된장찌개를 선택한 응답자는 36.8퍼센트로 두 번째로 인기가 많았으며, 그 다음으로는 백반(34.4%), 비빔밥(23.9%)순 이였다. 응답자들은 주어진 보기에서 골랐다.

된장찌개는 메주와 여러 가지 채소, 버섯, 해물 그리고 두부를 넣어서 만든 한국의 전통 찌개이다. 백반은 밥, 국과 몇 가지 반찬들로 구성된 한정식을 말한다. “백”은 흰, “반”은 밥으로 흰 쌀밥을 의미한다.

비빔밥은 간을 한 나물과 고추장을 위에 얹어 따뜻한 흰밥이 사발에 나온다. 계란 후라이나 다진 고기도 첨가 된다.

양식은 인기가 많지 않다. 6.3퍼센트의 응답자 만이 즐겨먹는 점심으로 햄버거를 뽑았으며 5퍼센트는 샌드위치를, 3.1퍼센트는 스파게티를 선택했다.

직장인들의 하루 평균 점심 비용은 4,885원 라고 밝혔다. 근처 식당을 이용하는 직장인의 평균 식비는 5,372원 이였으며 사내 식당을 이용하는 이는 평균 3,338원으로 2034원 가량 쌌다.
